영어권 사역 이렇게 준비합니다
작년쯤 중고등부 학생들에게 전도하라고 하니 한국 친구가 없고 외국 친구만 있다고 했습니다. 그 얘기를 들으면서, 이제는 우리 교회가 다민족 교회로 변할 때가 되었다고 느꼈습니다. 그러면서 지난 봄부터 다민족 교회로 변하기 위해 준비를 했습니다.
먼저 영어권 사람들이 영어 집회에 참석했습니다. 5월에 보스턴 근처 내슈아 한마음 교회에서 주최하는 영어 수련회에 7 명이 참석했습니다. 7월에는 주일학교와 중고등부와 싱글과 어른들 20 명이 올란도에서 열린 New Gen Conference에 참석했습니다. 참석자들이 집회에서 영어권 사역에 대한 인도하심을 받게 하려는 것이었습니다.
한편, 지난 여름에 2중 언어를 사용하는 영어권 목회자를 구하려고 했습니다. 그런데 결국 구하지 못했습니다. 그래서 중고등부를 포함해서 영어권 회중이 한어권 회중과 예배를 같이 드리기로 결정했습니다.
이제 중고등부를 포함해서 목장을 개편해야 합니다. 아직 구체적으로 결정된 것은 없지만 대략적인 방향을 말씀드리려고 합니다. 먼저, 영어권 사역에 우선권을 두는 것입니다. 즉, 한어권이 양보하고 희생해야 한다는 것입니다. 둘째는 중고등부 사역을 강화하는 것입니다. 저는 중고등부를 가장 중요하게 생각합니다. 그때 예수님을 믿는 사람들이 많기 때문입니다.
먼저 영어권 장년 목장인 차드 목장에서 ‘장년’ 영어권 전도와 사역을 위해 필요한 인원만 남고, 나머지 사람들은 다른 사역을 돕는 것입니다.
싱글 목장인 캄보디아 목장은 외국인 친구들이 참석하면서 이미 영어 목장이 되었습니다. 지금 이진영 사모님이 목자이고 제가 인도를 돕고 있는데 앞으로 캄보디아 목장 싱글들이 목자로 섬길 것입니다. 이미 15 명이 넘었는데, 당장 분가를 하기 어렵지만 주님의 도우심을 구하고 있습니다.
지난 3 년 동안 중고등부를 맡아서 사역하셨던 장목사님은 이제 장년을 맡습니다. 그래서 중고등부를 저와 조용수 사모가 맡습니다.
저희 부부 말고 목자님 한 분이 중고등부 사역에 자원했습니다. 그래서 그 목장의 목자를 새로 세워야 합니다. 그 목장에서 목자가 나오는 것이 제일 좋고, 그렇지 못하면 다른 목장에서 목자님을 지원 받을 것입니다. 앞으로 중고등부 사역에 1-2 명 더 자원했으면 좋겠습니다.
이렇게 되면, 한어 장년 목장도 변화가 있을 수 밖에 없습니다. 목자로 인도하심을 받는 분들이 있으면 이번 세겹줄 기도회 때 기도해 보시고 목자로 자원해 주세요.

Preparing for the English-speaking Congregation
When I asked the secondary students to witness last year, they answered that they had no Korean friends, only foreign friends. As I heard that, I felt that it was time for our church to change to a multi-ethnic church. Since last spring, we have been preparing for a multi-ethnic church.
First, English-speaking people attended the English gatherings. In May, seven people attended an English retreat hosted by Nashua One Heart Church near Boston. In July, 20 members of Sunday School, Secondary, Singles and Adults attended the New Gen Conference in Orlando. The purpose was to give a change to attendees to receive God’s guidance on the English-speaking ministry at the meeting.
Meanwhile, last summer we tried to hire an English-speaking pastor, but we couldn't. As a result, we decided that the English-speaking congregation, including the secondary students would worship with the Korean-speaking congregation.
It is time to reorganize the MokJang, including secondary students. Nothing has been decided yet, but I can give you a rough direction. First, we give priority to English-speaking ministries. It means the Korean congregation has to make concessions and sacrifices. The second is to strengthen secondary ministries. I believe that secondary ministry is most important because many people believe in Jesus at that time.
First, at the Chad MokJang, an English-speaking adult MokJang, only the personnel needed for the ‘adult’ English-speaking evangelism and ministry are to stay, and the rest help with other ministries.
The Cambodia MokJang, which is a single MokJang, has already become an English MokJang. Right now, Lee Jin-young SMN is a shepherd and I am helping. In the future, Cambodia MokJang singles will serve as shepherds. Although there are already more than 15 members, it is difficult to divide it right now. We are asking for the Lord's help.
Pastor Chang, who has been serving the secondary ministry for the past 3 years, is now in charge of the adult ministry. I and my wife will be in charge of the secondary ministry.
As one MokJa volunteered for the secondary ministry, we have to appoint a new shepherd for that MokJang. It's best if a shepherd comes out of that MokJang, or else a MokJa will come from another MokJang. I hope to have 1-2 more volunteers for the secondary ministry in the future.
There will inevitably be changes in the Korean MokJang. If you feel God guides you as shepherds, please pray for that at the coming threefold cord prayer meeting and volunteer as a shepherd.
