지난 7월 17일부터 20일까지 미국 올란도 비전교회와 하비스트 교회에서 ‘하나님 나라 안에서의 우리의 변화’ 라는 주제로 제
1회 New Gen Shepherd Conference가 있었습니다. 이번 컨퍼런스에 가정교 회를 하는 미국 14 교회, 캐나다 2 교회, 호주 1 교
회 총 17교회에서 167명이 (초등학생 41, 중학생 38명 고등학생 38명, 대학/청년 25명, 사역자 30명) 모인 북미지역에서
처음 열리는 다음세대 목자 컨퍼런스 였 습니다. 저희 온누리 침례 교회는 17명의 다음세대 목자들과 인솔자 3명해서 20명이
참석했습니다.
5학년부터 대학생들 까지 10-11명이 한 조가 되어 12개의 소그룹 조와 1개의 졸업생 조가 편성이 되어 소그룹 나눔 및 활동을 함께 하였습니다. 소그룹 모임은 세번의 저녁 집회 말씀이 끝난 뒤에 가졌고 말씀에 대해 배우고 느낀 것 다짐한 것을 나누는 시간이었습니다. 여러 교회가 섞여 있어 첫날 저녁 모임은 어색하고 서먹서먹하더니 다음날부터 팀별 활동을 하면서 아주 가깝게 친해지는 것을 볼 수 있었습니다. 가정교회를 하는 다음세대들이 서로 네크워크를 형성하고 함께 교제하는 것 만으로 이번 컨퍼런스는 의미가 있다는 생각을 하게 되었습니다
컨퍼런스는 세번의 저녁 말씀시간, 두번의 오전 말씀 그리고 선택 강의로 진행됐습니다. 세번의 저녁 말씀은 올란도 비전교회의 영회 회중교회인 하비스트 교회 담임인 David L. Kim 목사님이 전하셨습니다. 세상가운데 살아가는 다음세대에게 다니엘과 세친구들이 바빌로니아라는 곳에서 어떻게 믿음을 지키고 하나님의 영향력을 드러냈는지를 학생들의 눈 높이 맞게 메시지를 전달했고 그 말씀을 통해 학생들이 깨닫고 도전 받는 모습을 볼 수 있었습니다.
둘째 날 오전에 대학을 졸업하고 23살된 해리스 형제가 캠퍼스에서 목장을 개척하고 목장모임을 하는 간증은 많은 도전이 되었습니다. 아담이라는 친구를 전도하기 위해 시작된 캠퍼스 목장이 나중에 수십명의 대학생들이 모이는 모임으로 성장한 스토리는 놀라웠습니다. 내년에 해리스 형제와 같은 스토리가 우리 교회에서도 나오기를 기대하며 기도합니다.
우리는 우리의 자녀 세대들을 다른 세대라고 많이 생각했습니다. 그러나 이들은 다른 세대가 아닌 가정교회의 DNA를 똑 같이 같고 있는 새로운 세대입니다. 이들이 이 세대를 본받지 않고 하나님의 나라안에서 변화되어 거룩한 영향력으로 세상을 변화시켜 가는 새로운 세대가 되길 기대합니다.
내년에 켈리포니아 바이올라 대학에서 300명 규모로 제 2회 뉴젠 목자 컨퍼런스가 7월 23-36일까지 열립니다. 제 2회 뉴젠 컨퍼런스에 저희 다음 세대들이 많이 참석해서 새로운 세대들이 하나님의 비전을 발견하고 주님의 제자로 세워 지길 기도합니다.
From July 17 to 20, the 1st New Gen Shepherd Conference was held at Vision Church and Harvest Church in Orlando, USA, under the theme ‘Our Transformation in His Kingdom.’ This conference brought together 173 participants from 14 churches in the United States, 2 churches in Canada, and 1 church in Australia, making it the first North American next-generation shepherd conference. Our Onnoori Baptist Church attended with 17 next-generation shepherds and 3 leaders, totaling 20 participants.
Groups of 10-11 members, from 5th graders to college students, were formed into 12 small groups and 1 graduate group for group sharing and activities. The small group meetings took place after three evening sessions, providing time to share what they learned and felt from the messages. Initially, the first evening meeting was awkward as the members were mixed from various churches, but by the next day, they had become close through team activities. The conference was significant in fostering networks and fellowship among next-generation house church members.
The conference included three evening sermons, two morning messages, and elective lectures. The evening sermons were delivered by Pastor David L. Kim of Harvest Church, a congregation of Vision Church in Orlando. He conveyed messages on how Daniel and his friends maintained their faith and showcased God’s influence while living in Babylon, tailored to the students' level. It was inspiring to see the students grasp and be challenged by these messages.
On the second morning, a testimony from brother Harris, a 23-year-old graduate, about starting a house church on his campus and holding meetings was very challenging. His story of starting a campus house church to evangelize a friend named Adam, which eventually grew into a gathering of dozens of college students, was astonishing. We prayed and hoped for similar stories to emerge from our church in the coming year.
We often consider our children's generation as different, but they are the new generation that shares the same house church DNA. We hope they will be transformed within God’s kingdom, becoming a new generation that influences the world with holy impact.
Next year, the 2nd New Gen Shepherd Conference will be held from July 23-26 at Biola University in California, with a target of 300 attendees. We pray that many next-generation members will participate, discover God's vision, and be established as disciples.
